Just of the shores of the Port Vila township, schools upon schools of tropical fish inhabit scores of vibrant, thriving coral pods. And while catching a glimpse from a glass-bottom boat is special, getting up-close-and-personal below the surface is even better.

Reef Explorer’s custom-built semi-submersible boat is the only one in Vanuatu and allows visitors to observe the reefs from a “viewing room” below deck. Half-way through the tour, they moor off Iririki Island, where guests can snorkel, hand-feeding the hundreds of tropical fish.

Your air-conditioned coach will depart your hotel in town and skirt the scenic waterfront, taking the Lini Highway into the town area. You’ll drive past the new Parliament House built by the Chinese Government, the local markets, the main shopping areas and the distinctive older building in the town as well as the more modern. You’ll see the old British and French jails and hospitals. You will pass other places of historic and scenic interest, including two of the larger resorts, Le Lagon and Holiday Inn Resorts.

Your first stop involves a short walk through lush Vanuatu rainforest before being met by a traditional Melanesian warrior welcome at Iarofa Village. Your local guide will provide an informative commentary about the traditional customs and traditional village way of life. You will be served morning tea. Weather permitting you will be invited to witness the time-honoured art of fire walking and learn of the tradition, the sacrifices and preparation med undertake prior to this ritual.

Your second stop is at the beautiful refreshing natural swimming hole at Eden on the River. If you do not feel like swimming, you can instead wander around the beautiful gardens at Eden on the River. Next stop is the idyllic Secret Beach which allows you to simply stretch your legs, take a photo and a quick 15-20 minute refreshing swim.

Journey on passing more contemporary village and catch glimpses of modern village life, pass by the remnants of the American forces involvement in Vanuatu during World War II before arriving at a rustic local restaurant for a freshly prepared buffet style lunch and fresh fruit.

Following lunch, your journey continues along picturesque Havannah Harbour. During your afternoon refreshment stop at Gideons Landing, you will have time to cool off with a swim. On the way back to Port Vila you will pass Klems Hill Lookout, which provides a superb view over Mele Bay, Hideaway Island and the township in the distance.

Sightseeing in Vanuatu.Join us on “Nemo’ the Glass Bottom Boat & Snorkel Safari Tour. During your cruise out to your snorkel point take in the sight of Ifira Island and discover the underwater-world beneath you through the large viewing panels located in the centre of the boat.

Once we arrive at the spectacular island coral reefs, you can snorkel with complimentary snorkel equipment provided or swim with the real ‘Nemo’. You may also choose to just simply glide amongst the many tropical fish over the coral reef.

During your tour you will have the opportunity to feed the fish or you may prefer to stay dry onboard and watch the fun below.
